Anonymous. Painted c. 1770 - c. 1775.
Two female servants and a diminutive male servant wait on a gentleman seated on a bench with a stack of books. The cranes symbolize the wish for a long life. For the view in the background, a hole was cut out of the copper support, to which a piece of paper with the painted landscape was attached.
From the collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Currently on display in 18th Century, Main building, The Netherlands overseas.
