Peonies and Irises on a Rock — Wu Mou
Wu Mou. Painted 1750.
This garden in springtime is filled with purple irises and peonies in different colours, including red, pink and purple. This painting is said to have once decorated the wall of a brothel. The peony is considered a symbol of love and feminine beauty.
