Avenue of Oaks in Late Summer — Maria Bilders-van Bosse
Maria Bilders-van Bosse. Painted 1880 - 1900.
Marie Bilders-van Bosse likely painted this picture in the vicinity of Oosterbeek, where she moved after her marriage. She was a member of the Hague School, a group of painters who focussed on capturing the atmosphere and light of nature. In this painting, three full-grown trees dominate the composition. It is only upon closer inspection that one notices the countrylane and the figure of a woman.
