A Boat on the Bank of a River — Adam Pijnacker
Adam Pijnacker. Painted c. 1650 - c. 1655.
On returning to the Netherlands from his sojourn in Italy, Adam Pijnacker specialized in southern landscapes bathed in a golden Mediterranean light. His paintings are characterized by the tranquil atmosphere of a warm summer’s day. The long, raking shadows herald the fall of evening.
