Portrait of a Man — François André Vincent
François André Vincent. Painted c. 1795.
The interior in which this unknown man is portrayed has distinct Neoclassical elements. The pilaster in the background is decorated with Roman foliate ornament, and the man is seated in a fashionable giltwood fauteuil covered in silk damask. The chair’s giltwood frame is also embellished with classicizing motifs.
