Anonymous. Painted c. 1770 - c. 1775.
A man in summer dress converses with a Manchurian woman, recognizable from her large shoes and broad hairstyle. The books and writing materials in the cabinet suggest that she is well educated. The four plaques in this series are still in their original Chinese lacquer frames.
From the collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Currently on display in 18th Century, Main building, The Netherlands overseas.
