Mattheus Ignatius van Bree. Painted c. 1811 - c. 1813.

Gogel was one of the architects of the 1798 constitution of the Batavian Republic. As minister of finance, he introduced a new tax system in 1805. He also initiated the founding of the Nationale Konstgallerij, the precursor of the Rijksmuseum, in 1798.

From the collection of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam. Currently on display in Main building, Age of enlightment in the Netherlands / Stadtholder Willem V and the revolution, 18th Century.
