De Winkel near Abcoude — Paul Joseph Constantin Gabriël
Paul Joseph Constantin Gabriël. Painted c. 1877.
This painting is a collaboration between two painters. Gabriël was known for his polder landscapes, De Haas for his accomplished rendering of cattle. The result is a truly Dutch picture with a windmill, willow trees and cows by the small river Winkel at Abcoude, near Amsterdam. Both artists signed at the lower left: Gabriel ft De Haas fig. That is to say that Gabriël painted the picture and De Haas added the figures.
